Science Lab Fun at Escandon

Science Lab Fun!

5th grade students at Jose de Escandon Elementary have been enjoying hands on experiments in our classrooms. Teaching science requires a different approach in order for our students to fully comprehend the concept. Therefore our 5th grade students have the opportunity to conduct science lab experiments where they can experience the hands-on investigations, they get to work with science laboratory equipment where they can then learn to make scientific arguments. Conducting experiments, reviewing them closely, developing logical reasoning, and responding to analytical comments, are some of the valuable skills that help in preparing the next generation of scientists, engineers, and medical professionals. Many of the world famous scientists and researchers develop their lifelong interest in science in their school science lab only where they conduct their first science lab experiments. Not only is it a better way to learn science, but it’s also more fun. Our students love conducting science experiments and our goal as teachers is to create concrete thinkers, therefore we allow them to tinker with things, manipulate things, watch things that move, and things that change. Here at Jose de Escandon Elementary our students are given the opportunity to conduct science experiments on a weekly basis.
